What’s in a Warranty?

When it comes to purchasing pickup truck toolboxes, you want to be confident that the product you’ve paid for is durable and free from defects. Whether you’re purchasing tool totes, trailer tongue boxes or other similar storage units, a trustworthy product should come with a warranty.

The manufacturer of your pickup truck toolbox should warrant the product to be free from defects in both material and workmanship, usually for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Additional items, such as finishes, may have a separate warranty that states a shorter period of time from the purchase date.

The warranty should promise that the manufacturer will be responsible for the repair or replacement of the item, upon an inspection that deems product defective. Warranties typically do not cover labor or installation charges associated with the product. Similarly, costs associated with improper installation, shipping damage, or abuse that goes beyond the normal wear and tear of the product is usually not covered under warranty.

If you find that you need to return your toolbox to the manufacturer, make sure you get an authorization number from the vendor so that the repair or replacement of your product can be tracked. And before you purchase your product, make sure that the warranty is in writing, and not just a verbal guarantee.
