Taking Online Courses

As an occupational therapist, I work as an independent contractor for several institutions.  My routine can be somewhat unpredictable; I have to stay on my toes.  Although most of my work is with adults, geriatric and pediatric clients are assigned to me as well.  One of my employers advised me they expected that older and younger patient census would increase, rather than decrease.  I told them frankly I had less experience working with those age groups.  They said they were pleased with my work, and offered me a full-time job if I agreed to go back to school and get some extra training.  They would pay for me to take an Advanced Occupational Therapy Online program, part of the Arizona School of Health Sciences Online Programs.  They said they had made a similar arrangement with one of their employees, who obtained a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.

It just so happens I’d wanted to get some additional educational credits, but my budget just wouldn’t allow it.  I didn’t want to pass up this chance and I couldn’t really see a downside, so I signed an employment contract and will be working full-time while taking the online course.
