Powerpoint Tips for College Students
Posted by iKey on 02/21/08 in Education
The first time that you prepare a powerpoint presentation, you’re probably going to be in college. Your grade is going to depend on how well you create the project as well as how well you speak when sharing it with the class.
Here are some powerpoint tips to help you make sure that the whole thing happens smoothly:
- Draft a really simple version of your powerpoint presentation. You want to get the main text and ideas down before adding extras.
- Add only one complex feature. For example, insert a video into your last slide.
- Make it interactive. The best presentations are those that open it up to class questions and get others interacting with you.
- Try out different designs. Once the text and information are there, you can play around a little bit. Use free powerpoint templates to find a style that you like.
- Test it out. Ask for feedback from friends or family. Use that to improve the project.
- Ignore your public speaking fears. The worst part is going to be getting up in front of the class and talking about your project. Just use the slides as cues, take questions from your classmates and breathe. It’s going to be fine.
You don’t need to be a master powerpoint designer to create a great presentation for school. Put in some effort, play around with some designs and remember that no one in the class is really paying that much attention to you anyway.
