Teaching a Graduate Class
Posted by InstaKey on 02/21/09 in Health
I am so nervous! I am in graduate school for psychology and I am taking a course in alternative treatments. Our professor wants each of us to teach a class at some point during the semester. I hate talking in front of people and I am freaking out a little.
I am thinking about teaching my class on stress and anxiety relief through deep breathing. I thought that this would be both interesting and ironic! I know that many of my fellow classmates are stressed because of school and anxious about teaching a class. I was planning on discussing breathing exercises and other techniques with the class. Maybe I can even use some of the techniques before I have to teach o calm my down!
I do feel really silly being this nervous. I mean, I am studying to be a therapist for crying out loud! Talking in front of people really should not make me this upset! I am a big believer in the benefits of meditation. I usually meditate before I go to bed to calm down and relax at the end of the day. I’m going to try to meditate for a few minutes before the class. I’m hoping that a few minutes of calm before I have to teach will help with my nerves!
