How Advertising has Changed

I remember years ago staying up late watching infomercials on TV about hair replacement for men. These days, not only has the techniques for hair transplantation improved, so has the methods of advertising.
The problem with advertising by infomercial is that most people only watch them because they are the only things on TV that late at night. This means that you are not able to narrow your focus to only your target market — instead, you are paying to broadcast your message to everybody, which is a waste of money.
The Internet has changed all of that. Now you can make sure that you only target people who are likely to buy your product, saving valuable advertising dollars. For instance, pay per click advertising on search engines and blogs enables you to only run your ad on pages where the content is about the same topic as your product, or when Internet users search for keywords that describe your product. Furthermore, you only pay when the potential customer clicks on your ad, indicating a strong interest in your service or product — and being much more likely to lead to an actual sale.
As valuable as this advantage is, it should be no surprise that businesses are turning more and more to the Internet as a way to market their products and services!
