Bonding for Life

One of my fondest childhood memories is all the time that I spent playing with my father at our table. He was a carpenter by trade, and he had made me a bunch of wooden toys to play with. He made everything from blocks to make a house, to little wooden cars. He even went so far as to make boats for the tub, and when I was older, we made wooden airplanes that actually flew - he was a wonderful father.
For me, my father was a wonderful role model, and I hoped that I could follow in his footsteps when I was a father. When I had William, it was one of the most wonderful moments in my life, but at the same time, I knew it was going to test me to see if I really wanted to be like my own father or not.
I wasn’t a carpenter by any means, but I still wanted to get my son some wooden toys like I had when I was a kid. I was able to find a supplier of HABA toys that created wooden toys that were similar to what I had when I was younger, and I ordered some for us.
When they did arrive and we started playing with them, we started to form a great bond that my son and I have to this day. Though he is just about to leave home, we talk about those times that we played together with our wooden toys and we both smile - it was one of the best decisions of my life.
