One of the things that most of my friends would say about me is that I am a bit of a bargain shopper.  Ok, truth be told that I love hunting for a good deal, and it is just one of those things that make me happy.  It may sound pathetic, but I take it upon myself as a challenge to get as good of a deal as I can, and in most cases I succeed.

So it should come as no surprise that I love shopping for things in the off season.  Usually, you can get a great deal on something that you can use the following year just as the season ends or when sales for the particular products you are looking at would be slow.

Take winter jackets for example.  The best time of year to buy them is in spring, and if you are lucky to find them in summer, you can usually even get a better deal.  Yes, off season shopping is one of my best tactics to get a good deal.

So, I found myself out this morning looking at marine supplies for my boat for next year.  I picked up a new helm for my sailboat and a new, heavier anchor too.  The best part is that I paid a fraction of what I would pay during the summer months, so I feel like I did a good thing today.

What can I say, saving money puts a smile on my face!
