How to be Green at Brooks Institute Photography School

Many students find that their entrance into college coincides with developing a strong interest in social causes. Unfortunately, they also find that the habits of college life often conflict with those causes. For example, students at Brooks Institute photography school may be interested in environmental activism but may find that their busy course load leaves them little time for raising green awareness on campus.

That doesn’t mean that there’s nothing they can do. Here are some ways students at Brooks could be green:

  • See what green efforts the school has in place and support them. Recycling lunchtime leftovers like soda cans, for example.
  • Use school projects to explore green issues. There’s a huge movement to create green art and green photography. Your college projects are a great time to get involved in that.
  • Set a green goal. It’s hard to remember to be green when you’re busy with school. Setting a green goal for yourself - such as adding one eco-friendly action to your routine each month - can keep you on top of your activism without compromising your academics.

It isn’t just Brooks students that are interested in being green. Other creative schools (such as the International Academy of Design and Technology in Detroit or Collins graphic design school) also have a high percentage of eco-concerned students. Take small steps to do your part.
