The Grand Slam tennis season is upon us and the French Open tennis tournament will no doubt have fans holding their breath with excitement. The most recent tennis news is that on May 7th, three-time French Open winner Rafael Nadal of Spain lost on the clay court to Juan Carlos Ferrero, also of Spain.
Nadal has only lost two matches since 2005. The first was against rival Roger Federer. And Federer hopes to do this again, but this time at the French Open. Nadal has beat Federer the past two years in the finals. The French Open is the only title that Federer has not one out of the Grand Slam events.
Nadal lost his match partly because of a blister on his foot that is causing him pain and a lot of discomfort. It is unlike him to lose but during the match he called his trainer over twice to have his foot taped. News stories about him travelled fast because it relates to the French Open coverage that is starting.
The rivalry between these two champions will definitely increase the intensity of the Roland Garros tennis tournament but this is what fans of tennis love and look forward to. Also, many fans know that Federer is getting too old to play professional tennis and they want him to get this last title before he retires.
